Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of heavy-duty construction and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance programs while ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues on heavy equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on equipment and fleet vehicles
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and computerized diagnostic systems
  • Conduct inspections to identify worn or damaged parts
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records
  • Operate diagnostic tools, hand tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively
  • Respond to field service calls and emergency repairs as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company maintenance procedures
  • Work closely with operations personnel to minimize equipment downtime

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Technical or trade school certification in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair preferred
  • 2+ years of heavy equipment or diesel mechanic experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics
  • Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and repair diagrams
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in outdoor environments

Grading Superintendent

Position Summary

The Grading Superintendent oversees daily field operations for grading and site development projects. This role is responsible for managing crews, equipment, subcontractors, schedules, safety compliance, and production goals to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily grading and earthwork operations
  • Coordinate crews, equipment operators, truck traffic, and subcontractors
  • Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and grade stakes
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget
  • Monitor quality control and site safety compliance
  • Communicate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients
  • Track production quantities and job progress
  • Troubleshoot field issues and adjust operations as needed
  • Conduct safety meetings and enforce OSHA standards
  • Maintain equipment utilization and productivity

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in grading, excavation, or site development
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of grading, utilities, drainage, and earthmoving operations
  • Ability to read civil construction plans and elevations
  • Experience coordinating heavy equipment and field crews
  • Understanding of OSHA and construction safety regulations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced outdoor environments

Preferred Skills

  • GPS machine control knowledge (Topcon, Trimble, Leica, etc.)
  • Experience with project scheduling and production tracking
  • CDL preferred but not required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
